The 2014 Mazda 3 Sport made its debut in New York.

There will be 2 engines offered at launch. The 2.0L SKYACTIV engine is the same one found in the outgoing Mazda3 but will come with the addition of Mazda's 4-2-1 exhaust system. The engine has been slightly retuned for more torque and now has 155hp and 150 lb-ft of torque. The other engine that will be offered is the 2.5L SKYACTIV engine found in the 2014 Mazda6 & 2014 CX-5 which pumps out 184hp & 185 lb-ft. The fact that the 2.5L SKYACTIV moves those larger vehicles without hesitation should translate into some pretty impressive performance in the new Mazda 3.

Either engine will be able to be paired with either a 6-speed short-throw manual gearbox or the quick-shifting 6-speed SKYDRIVE automatic.
